Here are a few examples of the different styles of flooring available:

Strip
Comes in many different widths ranging from 57mm up to very wide planks 200-250mm.

Parquet
Small pieces of wood set out in a pattern.  Patterns can be laid as herringbone, basket weave or brick.  Herringbone is the traditional pattern and the most popular and can be laid in single, double or triple block pattern designs.  All can be laid with a decorative border.

Reclaimed
Old timber that has matured giving it a deeper colour and aged look.  It can be laid as strip or a parquet design.

The appearance of the floor can differ from wood to wood depending on the knots and the grain giving the floor character and charm or a contemporary feel.  Here are some examples:

Prime
This is the highest grade of timber and would generally have the least in colour.  The straightest grain and the least number of knots, burns and character marks.

Character
This timber is selected to give more variations in colour, texture and will contain some knots.

Rustic
This timber is a really more pronounced version of the character grade with an increase in the size of knots and features allowed, including the odd small hole and some surface cracks.
